Welcome to Step 1
Our Focus for this very first step (or is it a giant leap?)
is to introduce you to the unit 'Applying Skills to Emerging Technology and to familiarise you with this Wetpaint website - where to find things and how to engage.Hint: You may find it helpful to print this page so you can tick off your tasks as you complete them (if you think you can manage without doing this then do save on paper and don't print)
E-tivities to aim to achieve ...
- Firstly you need to join our website. There are steps on How to join for the first time and you can find them at the bottom of Tips for how use this website page under the Attachment section. Make sure you sign in everytime you come to this website so you can engage fully. This also keeps a record of your participation.
- Time then to explore the website... look at the home page description of sections. Check out the menu on the side and at the top of the page so that you can get a feel for how the website is set up. It is a very tangled web but hopefully you will gradually with more visits and building each step you can find your way around. If you need help then contact VivEvans - 02 68 420721 or via a message.
- Go to Online Safety and Responsibility. Read the tips and then join in the Discussion thread at the bottom of the page that is titled Photos for Profiles. Select Reply and add your response.
- Now it is time to edit your profile - So head off again to the Tips for how to use this website page and look in the attachment page at the bottom and find the one that is titled. 'How to Edit your Profile'
- Join in the discussion thread below.
- If time you might like to try Extra tasks below (this is not compulsory but could be fun and a way to extend your learning and understanding)

- Explore your profile area in this website some more
- Check out features in the tabs of your spot... things like messages, watchlist,
- Check out the Members section in the top menu and read other peoples' profiles... consider updating yours or sending messages to others.

Welcome
So fantastic that you have taken your first step into applying skills to emerging technology. :-) I would love your feedback and any questions you have regarding the First step. Here are some questions that might help steer your response. (Hint: To reply you need to select 'Post Reply' link - usually to the bottom right hand corner of this message.) What did you find interesting? or challenging? Did you try anything that was new for you? You may have done heaps of stuff online and this was all easy or perhaps it was a steep learning curve and a big challenge OR perhaps it was somewhere in between. Tells us :-) Were the e-tivities clear or confusing? Your feedback will help me improve the steps so don't feel shy to make suggestions or make complaints :-) as we want to continually improve to suit all types of learners.
